I teach jazz, pop, and funk style saxophone as well as Jazz Improvisation for all instruments with an emphasis on proper technique and foundation while keeping the lessons fun and inspiring. Most importantly, I realize that people do not all learn the same way, so I teach according to each student. The key to being an excellent teacher is understanding how your student’s brain assimilates information and then proffering that information accordingly.
What can I offer that other saxophone teachers may not? Not only have I studied music at excellent music schools, I have also studied with Jazz legends and toured with other legends in music as well. Some things can be taught in school, others cannot. - I have studied with the following jazz greats in person: Jerry Bergonzi, Dave Liebman, Jimmy Heath, Frank Foster and Barry Harris. - I have toured with Phish, The Trey Anastasio Band (for 10 years), Twiddle, Pink Talking Phish, and The One O’clock Lab Band. - I have also had the good fortune to play such venues as Madison Square Garden, Radio City Music Hall, The Bonaroo Music Festival, Austin City Limits Music Festival, Red Rocks, The Tonight show, The Carson Daley Show and Late Night with David Letterman. - I have studied music performance at: Berklee College of Music, UT Austin, and the University of North Texas, of which I am an alumnus of their world renowned 1:00 Lab Band. I still practice every day. It makes everything else in my life flow better. Plus there is still so much cool stuff to learn! I charge $30 for 1/2 hour lessons and $60 for an hour. |
